TLDR: Here is my plugin
A hobby of mine is collecting keyboards. Incidentally, I find myself doing typing tests to improve my typing speed, and just for fun (man see big number wpm, man feel happy).
Lately I have been spending way too much time on monkeytype, endlessly mashing my keyboard.
My MonkeyType Profile
As a result, I decided to finish off an old project the I had worked on a while ago. It was a plugin for Flow Launcher, which is an open source productivity tool made for windows that adds a search bar (that is similar to mac's search(?) I think). More interestingly, it has quite a rich plugin ecosystem that allows developers to create their own plugins.
One thing I really like about Flow Launcher is that their API can be interfaced with different languages - AFAIK you can create your own plugins with JavaScript, Python and CSharp. I am not too sure how good the support is for JavaScript, but C# is natively supported, and a lot of plugins seem to be written in Python.
Other developers have created some really cool plugins:
- Calculator -> A calculator that's actually fast (unlike default windows search)
- Clipboard -> Manage clipboard history
- Direct Translate -> Translate between languages
- And many more...!
And then theres my plugin... I created a bootleg MonkeyType.
Well actually its quite nice, because you can easily boot up a typing test without internet access. There's not much else to say, its just a fun little project that isn't really meant to be super life changing.
In all honesty I don't even use this plugin that much, especially since I'm on linux most of the time these days. But it feels good to finish this project that had been left unfinished for over 8 months.
Anyways give it a try! I would appreciate a star on github as well :).
